About Me
I began my equestrian journey as a 2-year-old “horse crazy” toddler. My parents would take me to the local fairs, and I always gravitated to the ponies! When I was just 8 years old, I went to my first official horseback riding camp, and the love of horses never left me.
Early on in my journey, I found United State Pony Club (USPC) where I obtained my Eventing certification through the local club and received national Dressage and horse management certifications. The skills and confidence I gained through USPC allowed me to take on the challenge of training 2 rescue horses. Volunteering for the Minnesota Hooved Animal Rescue Foundation’s Trainers Challenge, I was assigned a previously rescued horse and worked with the horse for a mere 150 days. The culmination of the Trainers Challenge was an event where all the participating horses and trainers came together to show off their accomplishments. In 2014 with my first rescue horse “Raayna”, I placed 4th overall and in 2015 my Spanish Mustang mare “Bug” and I placed a heart-warming 3rd place!
My love of Dressage has recently brought me full circle as I cantered down centerline in May 2023 riding my first Grand Prix test! My horse “B-Squared” and I have been together since 2010 when we rode in our first recognized Dressage show together. Over the years, we have earned our USDF Bronze and Silver Medals and our Silver Medal Freestyle Bar. I was also named USDF Junior/Young Rider Champion for Region 4 in both 3rd and 4th levels in 2015. As a team, we have also won championship classes at National Dressage Pony Cup, CSDEA Championships, and year-end awards at the FEI level.
Although Dressage is at the core of my equestrian training philosophy, I also utilize these fundamentals in other settings. In 2013, I started working with the St. Paul Police Mounted Patrol Unit, training new members to ride despite them having little to no horse-riding experience. For the past four years, I have been the riding instructor with the Minneapolis Police Mounted Patrol Unit, training over 20 officers to ride and care for their mounted patrol horses. My experiences with the mounted patrol academies brings an unique expertise to my training program and is easily adapted to any horse and rider looking to develop confidence in different situations!
